01 / About
Underscan Records was founded in Berlin in 2001 by Mark Wagner and Ralf Pytlik — the duo also recording as Menu:Exit — to give new, unheard music a platform. Most of its artists were found on the early internet: Dalezy and Bogger from Berlin, Gram and Onethema from London, Somshit and Lambent from Japan, Rod from Dublin, alongside established figures such as Scanner and Raster-Noton co-founder Frank Bretschneider.
The catalogue moved between electronica, IDM, breaks, downtempo, chip-tunes and abstract hip-hop — mostly pressed as limited vinyl runs of 300 to 500 copies, distributed worldwide through Possible Music, Cargo and p*dis, and closed in 2009 with a digital remix album.
The label is no longer active and will not be continued. This page documents the complete catalogue.

03 / The NOW Series
The second half of the catalogue was built around one idea: NOW — four 12" compilations released 2005–2006, collected on CD in 2008 and reworked by remixers including Team Doyobi, Hecq, E.Stonji and Bovaflux for the label's final release in 2009. "NOW is never what it seems and always under change."
